War Mongering Democrats

I am totally mystified (ha ha) with the war mongering democrat party. Why, you'd think OBL is shaking in his boots with the thought he is going to be hunted down. These guys are too much. To think these guys are going to be hard on terrorism when they BOTH were two of I think twelve senators to vote 'against' paying for the troops in Iraq. Simply amazing.

I watched nearly the entire convention - the only thing they are saying is Kerry served in Viet Nam. His life evidently did not exist from the time he got back until today... Viet Nam??? The democrats??? Ya gotta be kidding me.... all this does is VERIFY their absolute hate for President Bush. I think hate is the only possible word for their actions... no mention of abortion, no mention of global warming, no mention of much of anything except what a war hero he was.... well, not in my mind. And if you believe this guy is going to back the military, he's going to have to change the course he has followed for the past 20 years in the United States Senate... he has voted against every weapon system that is currently in use. He was ON the intelligence committee for crying out loud... both he and Edwards, and you are telling me they think they were lied to???? Love it. Love the fact they are admitting their ignorance.

Democratic Convention

The convention begins tomorrow night - it is something I look forward to every four years... thank goodness for cable - the networks are allocating one hour per night during prime time.  If it were some off the wall reality show you could count on a minimum of two hours per night.  A sad sate of affairs we find ourselves in Dudley.

I read tonight that the DNC made Al Jazera take their banner down.  Al Jazera is covering the convention and I guess the Dems thought that might be a little out of line.  Lesse, we have George McGovern, Al Sharpton, Howard Dean, Al Gore, Hill and Bill, (President Clinton), Jesse Jackson.... need I go on???  There 'are' Democrats who speak common sense.  Why they insist on allowing those yahoos speak is beyond me.  I mean, I understand President Clinton, but some of the others?  Seems to me like they cut their own throats at times. Time will tell.

Sandy Berger

Sandy Berger should go to Ft. Leavenworth - no more need be said.  I don't give a whit about the 9/11 commission saying what he was taking would not change their report.  As far as I'm concerned, that commission invalidated themselves long ago.

As for Mr. Berger.  The ex National Security Advisor??? Stuffing papers into his pants?  Removing documents, classified documents?  The lowest of the low working around classified material KNOWS not to do what he did.  How very very sad to hear the political hacks support him in this episode.  Reminds me all over again about how absolutely NOBODY in the democrat part ever stood up to President Clinton.

I worked in the intelligence field for 16 of my 20 years in the military.  Trust me when I say flatly... this man should be introduced to Ft. Leavenworth Kansas, and pronto!  A total disgrace, and goodness only knows what it was he got rid of.

A Revelation

Well I'll be dadgummed - the 9/11 commission is going to conclude that Iran colluded with Osama's boyz along the way... ummm, didn't The President, two years ago, identify Iran as part of the axis of evil?  And didn't the left just raise all sorts of cain that someone would dare even suggest that a country is evil?  Hmm, I wonder if they really are... they seem to be, but I guess I will need to have someone draw me a doggone picture or two.  It is not pleasant, it is tough, I am glad we have someone who will make the tough decisions.

The Reports

So we now have boo koo reports that have been published, each portraying themselves as 'the' authority on what led up to 9/11... I get so very very disgusted when they try and point fingers and say "if we only knew".  Here is the problem.

Many responsible for the content of the reports served on the Senate Intelligence Committee.  Those people get the same information as The President.  Let me repeat - 'The Same Informaton'.  Using that same information, they voted 'for the war'.  Now at this point they try and say there was not enough 'good' information etc.  Bull pucky.  They are yellow.  Politics - they are nauseating at times.  It is a dirty filthy endeavor.

TAPS

As many years as I've heard TAPS, I never knew there was a meaning, other than the lonely sad feeling I had while listening. I found this very interesting and hope you do also.

----------------------------

If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps were
played; this brings out a new meaning of it.

Here is something Every American should know. Until I read this, I didn't know, but I checked it out and it's true:

We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, "Taps". It's the song that gives us that lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes.

But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will beinterested to find out about its humble beginnings.

Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union ArmyCaptain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia. The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land.

During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment.

When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.

The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army.

The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted.

The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral.

The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate.

But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician.

The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform.

This wish was granted.

The haunting melody, we now know as "Taps" ... used at military funerals was born.

The words are ...

Day is done ... Gone the sun ... From the lakes ...From the hills From the sky ... All is well . Safely rest ..God is nigh
...
Fading light ... Dims the sight .. And a star ... Gems the sky ... Gleaming bright ... From afar . Drawing nigh Falls the night ...Thanks and praise . For our days ... Neath the sun ... Neath the stars...Neath the sky As we go . This we know .. God is nigh
... I, too, have felt the chills while listening to "Taps" but I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse. I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along.

I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before.

-------------------------------------

And after all that, I find out it is a myth...

There is a MYTH about Taps that is circulating about the Web and the Internet. The true origin of Taps is that in July 1862, after the Seven Days battles near Richmond, Virginia, the wounded Commander of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, V Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, General Daniel Butterfield reworked, with his bugler Oliver Wilcox Norton, another bugle call, "Scott Tattoo," to create Taps. Later, A Col. James A Moss substituted playing "Taps" for the firing of three volleys over the grave of one of his soldiers due to the proximity of his Artillery unit to the enemy. More about the true history of Taps can be found at Taps Information page, 24 Notes That Tap Deep Emotions and at Military District of Washington Fact Sheet: Origins of "Taps".

Mr. Edwards

Before all the crapola starts, I want to be on the record that this guy gives me the creeps. And I do not mean starting today... I mean observing him during the primaries. He gives me the willies. It is going to be the class warfare thingy all over again. I dunno. I am very suspicious of anyone with that much money that wants to raise my taxes. He / they want to redistribute the incomes in this country... me no like.

And yes, "I" am for tort reform, capping the damages in lawsuits. People that get interviewed regarding this issue are always those who have been affected directly. I understand there are problems; I understand people lose loved ones, medical mistakes are not easily corrected. But doctors have to be able to get insurance, and they are dropping outta the profession like flies. You have to use common sense somewhere. Fire, as in NEVER let a specific doctor practice again... lock him up if you want... but to allow multi-million awards become the norm is outrageous.

Internet Explorer

Welp, I have FINALLY had enough of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. When new versions of IE have problems resolved several years ago now recurring, it is time to move on. Specifically I am speaking of security holes... I am now using a program call Mozilla Firefox and I am beginning to love it already. I have been using it for two days and I have not had even ONE popup add on my screen... it is almost fun to surf the internet again. I no longer have to worry about viagra and cialis ads jumping up before me. I just thought I'd pass this tidbit along... it is improving my outlook already. Microsoft 'could' do it, they haven't, they can kiss my ptooie.

Remember - should your erection last more than four hours - you should call your doctor.
