Why It Is So Hard For Me To Support McCain

John McCain

RINO:  Republican in Name Only.  He is espousing things a conservative would NEVER consider.  I don't think I can do it.

Gas Prices

I am actually GLAD the prices are climbing.  I <think> it will finally tip the American people into action to DEMAND, and I do mean DEMAND the congress allow drilling in this country to include Anwar, off shore etc.   If it has to go to $8.00 a gallon before the American people see the light, so be it; I am ready.

I believe in alternatives; if someone invented a mobile that did not require oil I'd be all for same, but unless and until they do, we need oil.  And nobody has proven to me we don't have enough of our own to tell others to 'Bite Me'.

There will be a price that makes the people rise up... what will our threshold be?  It is coming.

Need Gas

Scottie McClellan

It is apparent by now, no matter who says what about the administration (especially if it's derogatory), it will be swallowed hook line and sinker by the left.  Nobodies minds will be changed in matters of this nature.  So, here's what I think.

I place Scot McClellan in the 'same' category as military generals who say nothing while serving and then speak out post their retirement.  Any general officer who has attained that rank has enough time in service to retire if they really do not believe in their mission(s).   For them to wait until they leave shows me two things: 1) they have no gonads and 2) they should not have been leading in the first place.

Scot McClellan got fired.  The very man the media called every name in the book as incompetent is now their guru.  I think he has proved their first assumption correct.

Speaking for me only - my <respect> would be mucho higher if people of this ilk took their stands when it counted, not when they think it makes them look good.

Bar Stool Economics

This came in a newsletter I receive and since the author is unknown, I am going to reproduce it for anyone interested.  It is so very true to where we are today in this country.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.  If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would payu nothing.

The fifth would pay $1

The sixth would pay $3

The seventh would pay $7

The eighth would pay $12

The ninth would pay $18

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."  Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected.  They would still drink for free.  But what about the other six men - the paying customers?  How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33.  However, if they subtracted that from everybody's  share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink hs beer.  So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).

The seventh  now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).

The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).

The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before.  And  the first four continued to drink for free.  But once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20" declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man.  "I only saved a dollar, too.  It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two?  The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute" yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all.  The  system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.  The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him.  But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important.  They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is  how our tax system works.  The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.  In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

My Wrens

We have had a cool cool spring to this point for which I am not complaining one iota.

The wrens usually come anywhere from mid to late April.  This year the first wren came into the neighborhood on 2 May, very late. We saw her poking around two of the three wren houses in our yard, and of course we heard her.  What a beautiful sound. A sure sign that spring had finally sprung.  It looked like we were going to be blessed with watching them for another year.

And then?  Gone, as in GONE in TOTO.  It would be one thing for them to not select one of our houses.  One would still get to hear their beautiful warble in surrounding yards.  But for whatever reason they have abandoned this neighborhood, and they are not heard in any fashion.  How very very sad.

While what you read above is absolutely true, I am looking to point a finger at 'someone'.  I'd say President Bush is a good candidate. He's blamed for everything else, sooooo... yup, sounds good to me.

A Simple Question

Why should we ask, demand  the Saudis to produce more oil when we won't ourselves?  We have boo koo oil of our own; we have our own government to thank for not producing said oil.

Four bucks a gallon?  We deserve it.  In fact the green folk in this country (and we all want that don't we), should be cheering and hoping for five bucks a gallon.  I suspect they are in fact cheering.  And us?  We blame President Bush. Ha ha.

Your congress, your lawmakers folks.  Put the blame where it should be.  Democrat and Republican.  I say 'and Republican' because it took some of them to not allow the drilling, the exploration, the extraction, and ultimately the production of our own oil.  To name just one?  The Honorable John McCain.

So I say, more power to the Saudis.  They have us right where they want us, and we deserve it.

Green - give us more green, or less, depending on the color of 'your' dollar.

Absolute Idiocy

That is the link to President Bush's speech to the Knesset.  I will kiss your bare buttocks [anyones] if they can show me the use of the word democrat or Obama in this speech.  The media should be ashamed.  I still do not know the name of the American Senator referred to in 1939, but who cares.

One more time... as I listened to him deliver the speech, I immediately thought of Jimmah Carter; if Barrack thinks it was 'him' The President was talking about I'd say guilt is a terrible thing.

Me Thinks They Doth Protest Waaay Too Much

The democrats are protesting abit too much in my humble opinion regarding President Bush's statement to the Israeli Knesset.  The President has never wavered, and I mean 'never' wavered regarding his position on talking to terrorists.  I was listening to  the speech and my thought was Jimmah, err, I mean former President Carter.  I 'did' and 'do' have a question as to who the Senator he referred to who stated he wished he could just talk to  Hitler.  I don't know who that Senator was and no media person has mentioned the name.  There must have been one.

This campaign is going to be very enlightening.  There are going to be some eye opening things happen to Mr. McCain.  He talks so much about working across the aisle.  Ole John is gonna find out just how much disdain the other side he 'thinks' he has been working with all these years really has for him.  Oh yes, they have used him allot during the Bush Presidency - now that he is the opposition, they will spit him out, and in fact spin 'on' him.

McCain in my mind has been so closely aligned with the democrat party for so long. I think it almost best to pull for a democrat president.  If McCain is elected, what party do you think is going to get the blame for his decisions?  Ya don't even  git a guess.  Yup, the more I think about it, this country is gonna have to get a good dose of the far left before they pull themselves out of the hole they are going to dig.

And to think - just six to seven years ago, the republican party had a chance to nearly obliterate. for all time, the far left.  There is no question the opportunity was there; the opportunity is now lost for at least ten years, and maybe twice that long.  And the republican losses have nothing to do with the war per se.  Oh yes, people are indeed tired of the war, but the graft, the absolutely unrestricted spending has ticked people off.

Here's the bottom line.  When a person of my background is finding it hard to swallow the republican nominee for president, it is a dire statement of just how precarious the republican position is.  There is indeed time for Obama to stick his hole foot in his mouth, but I think we as a country need to go through the hell the far left can bring us.  We need it.  And believe me when I say, he does represent the far left.  May the Good Lord help us all.

RealClearPolitics - Articles - GOP Stunned By Loss in Mississippi

Looks Like a Blood Bath is Coming

RealClearPolitics - Articles - GOP Stunned By Loss in Mississippi

I dunno why they should be 'stunned'.  The seat was won by a 'conservative' democrat.  Umm, against raising taxes.  Duh, pro life.  Issues the republican party used to own.  So what in the sam hill is surprising?  Tell me even one national republican leader espousing being a conservative.... just one.... I'm waiting.  McCain is as close to a democrat as I ever, and I do mean ever want to be.

It looks to me like a political blood bath for the republican party come November.  Sort of like a kid gone bad.  Sometimes they have to get all the way into the gutter before climbing out.  Scary for the country as a whole, yes I know, in my mind at least.  It's OK; I am used to being alone on issues.

We Want

I noticed awhile back an article in my AARP magazine regarding a free opportunity to shred documents in Omaha on 3 May.  So, I dutifully marked my calendar so as to not miss the opportunity.

I waited an hour after the opening bell so the riff raff could drop theirs off, then drove out to the designated spot.  There were six large mobile shred trucks lined up, people directing traffic etc. Looked like a smooth running operation, except there was hardly anyone there.  Too bad, more folks should take advantage of these opportunities and there may be less identify theft.

So anyway, I'm directed to line up to truck #3.  An elderly lady approached my car with a clipboard.  She thrust it through the window and said we want you to sign a petition for better health care; we are sending the signatures we gather to Washington to get better health care.  I glanced at the board to see if I recognized any names but there weren't even any on it... so I decided to grill her abit before signing.

I asked her specifically what it was about our health care she wanted changed.  She said, "we want more".  I told her I was quite pleased with my health care and if she couldn't tell me any better than that what the issue was she should be ashamed of herself.  And no I don't believe I will sign.  They were giving out candy bars and she literally threw my bar at me saying you can  have a candy bar anyway.  I gently blew her a little kiss and thanked her.  She was snarly and tried to intimidate me.  Made me almost feel ashamed to be a 'senior'.  Not like the seniors that raised me.

I am not nieve.  I do know there are people in this country hurting. I also think one should be able to articulate more than "we want more" to resolve the issue.

Where is my frickin stimulus check?   Shoulda been  here by now.

Hillary and Fox Network

I have zero clue if you got to see Hillary being interviewed by Bill O'Reily on Fox, but herewith an observation.

Whether or not you agreed with her answers (and I certainly did not some), Hillary was better than any candidate I've seen in over over thirty years of observing.

She was feisty, charming and took no flak from O'Reily. While Barrack can deliver a speech better than anyone else on the scene today, off the cuff he can not hold a candle to Hillary.  And McCain either.

What a volatile campaign season we  have been through - I think as of today the Democrat Party is beginning  to wonder whether or not Barrack can be elected.

Anyway, I, John S. Wilson hereby apologize for praising Hillary, but she showed me something during this interview.
