Random Thoughts on Oil

   I do believe 'everyone' is happy with the price of petrol for our vehicles today.  What is less known is 'why' oil prices are as they are.  Many give our President the credit.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Remember the phrase - 'Drill Baby Drill'?  Remember who originated the term.  That dumb ass Sarah Palin.  That and fracking are the reasons for our current oil prices.  Not all is good on the horizon however.
   First of all, the oil companies have to make a profit.  With the prices continuing to fall, there will be a point (and soon), where it will no longer be profitable to get the oil.  At that point, the process shuts down in this country.  The Middle East will return with a vengeance!
   Secondly, since the price at the pump is low right now, you can doggone near guarantee taxes will rise, and I don't mean a penny or two.  They will take this opportunity to raise taxes probably (my guess), a minimum of ten cents per gallon.  Probably closer to fifteen per gallon.  Then, when the prices go up, as they invariably will, those taxes are 'in place'.  The government needs revenue and by gum they intend to get revenue!!
   One more point on the price of oil.  Those dastardly oil companies who are complained about so vehemently when the prices are going up, have had zero thanks with the prices falling.  If the oil companies really were in the gouging mode doncha think now would be the time to do so?  I hear crickets!!!
