This’n That

It is the beginning of week four of dialysis for spousal unit.  I have noticed some things in passing as we come and go to the dialysis center.

Obviously most of the clients are older.  There are those on crutches, those in wheelchairs, amputees and just about anything in between.

One thing seems to be a constant.  Good attitudes.  I find this quite interesting in one way.  It takes four + hours each and every time one goes… this does not include travel time.  Yet, these folks to a tee seem to have good attitudes – I think I attribute the attitude to knowing and understanding just what dialysis accomplishes for the patient.

Today as I was leaving after dropping her off, an elderly gentleman whom I’ve chatted with before was arriving.  He was talking to a driver delivering wheelchair bound patients.  The driver said “aren’t you a doctor?”  Irony… the elderly gentleman who probably used to send people ‘to’ dialysis is now receiving same. His attitude is even better than others.  He sings at times.  Just revealing things one observes as they ramble down life’s path.

Bullying

All the horsepucky regards bullying in our schools. I wonder where it might be learned.

Think for a moment of the lady who took her daughter into the tanning parlor. I want you to tell me, the things pompous commentators have and are saying about this woman could not be considered bullying.

One more time - bullying is, has, and always will be part of life on this earth. Does not make it right; I do not condone it. It is reality.

The 1% !!

The President is having a fund raiser where if you shake his hand it costs you $1,000.00 ! I've been wondering; are those folks from the dreaded 1%?

Harry And The Postal Service

I will bet it was a minimum of twenty years ago I realized the demise of the Postal Service. One email delivered over great distance was a bulb coming on!
Today the Senate Majority Leader says seniors enjoy getting junk mail as an argument for more money to pump these bozos up. It is a lost cause Senator!

Rambles From Mid-America

http://goo.gl/4Ysev   I do not know if George Zimmerman  is guilty of anything or not; I DO know what NBC did is absolutely atrocious.  Disgust is too plain a word to describe their actions. Then when called on their deception they act as if it was a typo by some secretary.  Their type of journalism is disgusting and they should be ashamed.

http://goo.gl/Es81p  I remember a discussion sitting in a Chinese Restaurant with two of my brothers and an Aunt and Uncle.  The discussion was about who the Republicans would put up for President this year.  The Aunt mentioned Romney.  I said they (the opposition) would rip him apart for being a Mormon.  It has blatantly begun, oops, NBC ‘AGAIN’.

http://goo.gl/uwRp4  Can you imagine a boycott agin WalMart and Coke over voter I.D. laws?  I doubt if it will gain much traction.  Most people who shop at WalMart do so because they have the lowest prices.  And Coke?  Don’t these dimwits know Warren Buffett owns Coke?  What a wicked web we weave.

http://goo.gl/AqVSW  For someone who ‘taught’ constitutional law, The President is being taken to the woodshed by this 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge.  Makes me warm inside.  Somebody has to stand up to this President.

Various and Sundry Things

Did you, like me, think when oral arguments are finished at The Supreme Court, the Justices then got around a table and discussed the issues?  I certainly did.  Nope.  They ‘write’ their thoughts and pass them around, and if their writings change another Justice’s mind, so be it, otherwise they just march on.  In other words, as I understand it, they meet one time post the oral arguments, take a vote on their current feelings, and them go their separate ways to write their opinion.  So what does  this mean?  It means, we should not need to wait until June to find out their feelings… they are already known.  Sigh.

Whomever thought up the term ‘pink slime’ is brilliant.  If one were to dig into the origins, I’d bet my bottom dollar  it is an animal rights group behind the situation.  Pink Slime – sounds terrible, yes?  Does to me, then I began reading about the whole situation.  First of all, we have been consuming it for twenty plus years.  Do you think the make-up of the concoction was just picked out of thin air?  I think not!

I used to work for an animal feed company.  The ingredients put into the animal food was kept track of down to the milligram.  Every day, the ingredients had to be inventoried, and there were in fact, scientists on staff who had to measure the ingredients.  I dare say, the same standards apply to the human food supply. There is a local food chain who is finally taking a stand on this issue.  They are putting ‘pink slime’ meat back on the shelf. Now, granted, this company has their origins in Iowa, and granted, the governor of Iowa, a [killer of children Republican] has lobbied the company to sell the product again.  I just applaud the company for common sense and courage.  It will be interesting to see the outcome.

One more time, the smear campaign for the person who thought up the term pink slime is / was brilliant.  I can think of some slime I’d like to slide down their throats.

You cannot deny the election of President Obama was with a majority of the populace of these United States.  I think even the most cynical among us thought it a page turning time in the history of this country.  I want to say point blank.  President Obama has done more to destroy improving race relations than I thought possible by any one person.  Shame on you Sir!

This’n That

I have successfully severed my relationship with the two sponsors who have dropped Rush!  And, I am more than happy to see that one of the companies is in deep doo doo.  Interestingly enough I believe it is as much because this company continues to advertise on several umm, shall we say, liberal outlets, thereby resulting in their obvious bias.  I hope they fail in toto.

http://goo.gl/u7ZnU  There are NO words required, not even an opinion.  Go to the end of this article and read one of the requirements to attend this William Jefferson Clinton function.  Again, no words needed. Hmmm.

I want to report just how happy I am we are nearing the objective of President Obama… his words!!! As I went to the grocery this morning to do my weekly duty, I noticed fuel (regular) is $3.97 per gallon.  Thank you Sir!   I will really be ecstatic when we get to $5.00.  Re-elect pronto!!!

I finally saw an ad in the local paper for power washing my deck.  I called and the two fellows came out immediately.  They could not find the house, but I went and got them.  I had a price in mind based on what the insurance company gave me last year. Turns out these fellows are union electricians in Omaha where the unemployment rate is 4.3% +/- .1 either way.  Said they had to do something, the union bosses keep telling them to hang tough ‘brother’… it is going to turn around.  Sigh.  Fellow said I don’t know how you feel about unions, but…

This was an opening I don’t normally let pass.  I told him my tried and ‘true’ philosophy transferred to me from my Father – in  short, do a good job and you will be compensated.  I could I suppose, elaborate, but that is all  you need to know.  In my twenty years of employment in the private sector I ‘never’ joined a union… I had ‘some’ encounters because of my refusal(s.  In one case the job was incentive based.  I manually made a cable  that when completed had 20,000 loose wire ends – I memorized this cable.  The pattern took up every page of a stenographer notebook to plant a picture in your mind.

Here is the bottom line.  I needed to make four of these cables in an 8 hour day to make quota – I worked there six months.  By the time I left I was making four by lunchtime.  Now, I, were this individual incentive, could have made allot of ‘m o n e y’.  It was however, group incentive.  So that, were I to look around and see several of my fellow group missing I would wonder where in hades they were – turns out, they might be off reading the paper, and or meditating on their respective throne.  THEY got to participate on my production, and guess who were the loudest critics of my refusal to join ‘their’ union.  Brothers my butt!!

I learned to stand on my own feet; I hope I have instilled that in my own children, and I am too old to change.  Regardless, I believe my little chat with these two fellows made a dent in their minds – and oh by the way, they did such a good job, they earned a nice tip.  They were hungry and their labor proved it!! And I, after our little chat was trying to make a point.  I think they got the point. God bless America!!
