Bi-Partisan vs. The Alternative
President Obama came in (just like President Bush) saying there was a new day; he would bring Washington together in a new spirit of partisan-ship. It has taken less than a month to begin slapping the Republicans around and saying “we won”. News flash – they did win.
The simple fact is the democrat party can (and will) pass anything they want. They are in power, put there by the American people. That does not, and should not mean Republicans in Congress should abandon their principles. Say that word again… principles. That means you believe in something, and supposedly you have been sent to Washington based on what you believe.
This does not stop the fact the Democrats WON. They can pass anything they want with minimum Republican support. I will always believe any Republican who votes for the stimulus plan the way it is currently constructed should change parties and pronto. There is nothing wrong with being partisan if you are abiding by your principles. There is also nothing wrong with compromise as long as you do NOT abandon your principles.
Yep, you won – elections ‘do’ have consequences. Big ones!
