Govering From The Center

OK class - today as we open this new congress, we have many new members whom we've been told are moderates. These people, we've been told, are not hardliners - they are open to compromise... umm shall we try a subject or two?

a) Abortion - are you for it or agin it? OK moderates, pick a side.
b) Immigration (LEGAL Immigration) - come on moderate folks, make up your mind. You gotta pick a position.
c) Judicial nominees (the most important) - do you want a judge who will interpret the law or one who will make law? You do realize, 'your' job is to make law doncha?

My point is this: these yahoooos can come to congress and say they are moderates all they want. I think what people are trying to say is they want people who are Mr. and Mrs. Nice. Well folks, in the final analysis, somebody has to make a decision, and that is when moderation goes out the window. You either make the right decision, or you make the wrong decision. In somebodies opinion that is, and after all, isn't that what this is all about?
